Annopol is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lublin Voivodeship, within the Kraśnik County, with its administrative seat in the town of Annopol. Historically, the area of the municipality was formed by two separate administrative units: Annopol and Kosin. The municipality covers an area of 151.07 km², of which 71% is agricultural land and 19% is forest land, making it a significant agricultural region. In 2012, Annopol was inhabited by 9,805 people. Within the municipality lies the Wisła pod Zawichostem Nature Reserve, which protects rare bird species, particularly those associated with the Vistula River valley. The municipality comprises several village administrations (sołectwa), including Anielin, Baraki, Grabówka, Kosin, and Stary Rachów, as well as two housing estates in the town of Annopol: Annopol I and Annopol II. The surrounding area includes neighboring municipalities such as Dzierzkowice, Tarłów, Zawichost, and others, fostering regional cooperation. The municipality has a rich historical and cultural context, connected with local traditions and heritage.
