Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Strawczyn

The Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Strawczyn, established in 1629, is part of the Kielce Diocese and the Piekoszów Deanery. Until the beginning of the 17th century, Strawczyn belonged to the Chełmce parish. The church, founded by Krzysztof Gawroński, was completed in 1685 and consecrated by Bishop Wojciech Stawowski. The religious building combines Baroque elements with later renovations, including those carried out in 1835 and the 1950s, when its interior was adapted. The chancel of the church is single-bay and polygonal, with its northern part adorned by the Chapel of Our Lady of the Scapular. The main altar features a 17th-century painting of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, while the side altars display paintings of St. Joseph and the Crucifixion of Jesus. Between 1991 and 1995, conservation work was carried out, including the restoration of all altars and plasterwork, the replacement of bells, and the renovation of the organ. The parish has 5,400 parishioners and is served by diocesan priests. The parish priest is Fr. Piotr Florczyk, and the vicars are Fr. Adam Koćwin and Fr. Mateusz Magiera. The parish has a rich history and is an integral part of the cultural landscape of the region, serving not only as a place of religious practice but also as an important hub for the local community.
