Osie is a rural commune in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, located in Świecie County, with its seat in the village of Osie. The commune covers an area of 209.61 km², of which 21% is agricultural land and 69% is forested. Within its borders lie parts of the Leśny Kompleks Promocyjny Bory Tucholskie (Tuchola Forest Promotional Complex) and a section of the Bory Tucholskie Biosphere Reserve. The area is traversed by rivers such as the Wda, Prusina, Ryszka, and Sobińska Struga, and features numerous lakes, including Lake Mukrz and Lake Ciche. Osie is renowned for its rich base of nature reserves—there are six in total—which protect unique ecosystems and rare plant species. The Wdecki Landscape Park also operates here. The commune is famous for its attractive tourist trails, such as the Szlak harcerzy Światowida (Światowida Scouts’ Trail) and numerous Nordic walking routes, attracting nature lovers and active leisure enthusiasts. Architecturally, the commune is distinguished by the church complex in Osie, with a building dating back to 1901, and other historic sites like the granary in Stara Rzeka and a forest tract from the early 19th century. The commune has a rich history, evident in its numerous Evangelical cemeteries and traces of past customs. Economically, Osie is the wealthiest rural commune in Świecie County, making it an interesting place to live and invest. A notable fact is the presence of as many as 63 natural monuments, highlighting the area’s great biodiversity and the commitment of local authorities and the community to environmental protection. The commune is surrounded by other municipalities, such as Cekcyn and Śliwice, which fosters regional development.
