wikipedia
The Wda Landscape Park, established on February 16, 1993, is located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the South Pomeranian Lake District, covering areas of the Świecie and Tuchola counties. Its total area is 19,177.24 hectares, with an additional buffer zone of 4,609.15 hectares. The park stretches along the Wda River, offering picturesque landscapes and a rich ecosystem. The construction of the hydroelectric power plant in Żur in 1930 led to the creation of the Żur Reservoir, which transformed the area by providing new habitats for plants and animals and significantly enhancing the region's tourist appeal. Forests cover approximately 70% of the park's area, predominantly consisting of pine and birch forests. Among the rare plant species found here are three types of sundew, various lichens, and the garden angelica. The fauna is equally diverse, with 149 species of birds, 42 species of mammals, and an impressive variety of fish, amphibians, and reptiles. Visitors to the park may encounter species such as the black stork, white-tailed eagle, otter, and European beaver. Notable architectural attractions include a railway bridge over the Wda River and a scenic viewpoint. The park is home to several nature reserves, including Lake Ciche and the Brzęki im. Zygmunta Czubińskiego Reserve, which protect valuable ecosystems. Tourism in the park focuses on water-based activities, as well as designated hiking and cycling trails, making the Wda Landscape Park a popular destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
