The municipality of Bądkowo, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the Aleksandrów County, is a rural administrative unit with its seat in the town of Bądkowo, formerly known as Żabieniec. From 1975 to 1998, the municipality belonged to the Włocławek Voivodeship. The municipality covers an area of 79.7 km², of which 96% is agricultural land. Data from June 2004 indicates that the population of the municipality was 4,646 inhabitants. In Bądkowo, there are several historical monuments, the most important of which is the parish church of St. Matthew, dating back to 1312. Other valuable sites include the Roman Catholic cemetery from the mid-19th century and the church complex in Łowiczek, where you can see a wooden church from 1711 and a belfry from the 19th century. The municipality also retains elements of manor architecture, such as the manor complex in Wysocin, consisting of a 19th-century manor house and a park from the late 19th century, which now serves as a school. In Bądkowo and its surroundings, there are various village administrative units (sołectwa), as well as non-administrative villages such as Olszynka. The municipality borders units such as Brześć Kujawski, Koneck, Lubanie, Osięciny, Waganiec, and Zakrzewo, indicating its central location in the region. The cultural values of the municipality can be explored through its diverse historical monuments and local traditions, which are cherished by the residents. Despite its small population, the municipality has a rich history and valuable architecture, making it an interesting place to discover for both tourists and those interested in the history of the region.
