Aleksandrów County

Aleksandrów County, established in 1999 within the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, has its seat in the town of Aleksandrów Kujawski. It features a diverse landscape, with the Inowrocław Plain in the south and part of the Toruń Basin in the north. The Ciechocinek Lowland and the Vistula River form the county’s northeastern border, where the well-known health resort of Ciechocinek is located. In 2019, the unemployment rate stood at 11%, and according to data from the same year, the county had a population of 55,066. Land use in the county is dominated by agricultural areas, which account for 82% of its total area, with arable land making up 74.3% of that portion. The county includes urban municipalities such as Aleksandrów Kujawski, Ciechocinek, and Nieszawa, as well as rural municipalities. The region is home to numerous architectural monuments, including the Neo-Gothic Church of the Transfiguration in Aleksandrów Kujawski and the health resort complex in Ciechocinek, which features wooden graduation towers, a saltworks, and classicist main bathhouses. Other notable sites include the late Gothic Church of St. Hedwig in Nieszawa and the classicist town hall dating back to 1821. The county also boasts rich cultural traditions, with many hotels and guesthouses from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries that attract tourists. Road transportation is supported by a network of national roads, such as the A1 highway, and bus lines operated by KPTS, as well as rail transport with the main station located in Aleksandrów Kujawski. Aleksandrów County is not only an interesting destination due to its history and architecture but also offers attractive conditions for the development of tourism and recreation.
