Barchlin, a village in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, is situated on the border of the Leszno Upland and the Warsaw-Berlin Glacial Valley, within the administrative district of Przemęt. Its history dates back to the Middle Ages when it was originally a noble estate owned by the Barkliński family. First mentioned in records in 1303, the village witnessed numerous legal disputes involving its owner, Wojciech Barkliński, and his descendants. The area boasts valuable historical monuments, including a manor and farm complex with a manor house from 1893, surrounded by a landscape park, and the remains of a wooden windmill from 1824. Architecturally, Barchlin is characterized by compact development typical of the region, featuring houses from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as preserved farm buildings. The natural environment is rich; the village borders the Przemęt Landscape Park, and its wetlands form a significant ecosystem supporting numerous bird and animal species. Barchlin is home to 22 archaeological sites, including a Lusatian culture cemetery and an early medieval hillfort. The village celebrated its 700th anniversary in 2009, and its community is actively involved in the Volunteer Fire Department, which has achieved many successes in firefighting sports competitions. Interestingly, in the past, the area was subject to legal disputes over rights to water and game. Today, it thrives by organizing cultural and sporting events, supported by the local Social, Cultural, and Sports Center.
