wikipedia
The Belsk Duży Commune, located in the Masovian Voivodeship, is a rural commune in the Grójec County, encompassing 36 villages and 34 village administrative districts (sołectwa). Its seat, Belsk Duży, boasts a long history, with the first records dating back to 1451. The commune is primarily known for its developed fruit-growing industry, particularly due to having the highest share of fruit tree plantations in the county and the country. The commune covers an area of 107.84 km², much of which is agricultural land, along with beautiful forested areas, including the Modrzewina Nature Reserve. Within the commune, there are historical monuments such as the monastery complex in Łęczeszyce, the parish church in Lewiczyn, and the palace and park complex in Mała Wieś. The commune also has a rich social history, with well-developed infrastructure in the past, including a school, a civil registry office, and various agricultural and cultural institutions. During World War II, Belsk Duży served as the commune's seat, and according to population records from that time, it had a significant number of residents, most of whom were engaged in agriculture. Additionally, the commune is home to Roman Catholic cemeteries and national memorial sites. An interesting fact is that the commune features not only traditional rural houses but also modern fruit-growing farms, reflecting its development. The area is well-connected to Warsaw and other major cities via National Road 7 and a network of provincial roads. With its rich history, beautiful landscapes, and agricultural traditions, the Belsk Duży Commune is an interesting example of a Polish countryside where the past intertwines with modernity.
