Bielany is a rural municipality in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the Sokołów County. It was previously known as the Kowiesy Commune. The administrative seat of the municipality is Bielany-Żyłaki. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality belonged to the Siedlce Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2006, the municipality had 3,854 inhabitants. As of 2002, it covered an area of 109.6 km², of which 78% was agricultural land and 17% was forested. Bielany constitutes 9.69% of the area of Sokołów County. The municipality is demographically diverse, as illustrated by the age pyramid of its inhabitants from 2014. The municipality comprises several villages, such as Bielany-Jarosławy, Bielany-Wąsy, Dmochy-Rętki, Kowiesy, and Ruciany. Neighboring municipalities include Liw, Mokobody, Paprotnia, Repki, Sokołów Podlaski, and Suchożebry. Bielany boasts a rich history and local traditions that shape the culture of the area.
