The municipality of Biesiekierz, located in the western part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship within the Koszalin County, is distinguished primarily by its agricultural and suburban character. Its administrative seat is the village of Biesiekierz, and the municipality covers an area of 116.60 km², which accounts for 7% of the county's total area. In the 21st century, the municipality experienced significant population growth, with an increase of 48.3% between 2002 and 2019. Biesiekierz borders the city of Koszalin and the municipalities of Będzino and Świeszyno in Koszalin County, as well as Białogard and Karlino in Białogard County. A notable landmark in Biesiekierz is the Monument to the Potato, which is the largest of its kind in Europe and the world, standing approximately 9 meters tall and serving as a local symbol. The municipality is also home to nature reserves, including part of the Wierzchomińskie Bagna floral reserve and the Parnowo ornithological reserve. Biesiekierz is rich in natural monuments, such as an avenue of pedunculate oaks and a massive oak tree near the village of Parsowo, which boasts an impressive circumference of 700 cm and a height of 23 meters. In terms of transportation, the national road No. 6 runs through the municipality, connecting Biesiekierz with Koszalin and Karlino, along with the regional road No. 166. While there are no railway lines in the municipality, postal services are available, and there is access to branches of public offices. Biesiekierz comprises 11 administrative districts (sołectwa), including Gniazdowo, Kotłowo, Parnowo, and Laski Koszalińskie, as well as 19 localities, ranging from villages and settlements to areas with less dense development. The municipality forms the Laski Koszalińskie subzone within the Słupsk Special Economic Zone, which encourages investment. In 2016, the municipal budget revenues amounted to 30.5 million PLN, with expenditures of 26.7 million PLN and public debt accounting for 23.6% of revenues. The combination of natural beauty, rich historical resources, local cultural traditions, along with dynamic demographic and economic growth, makes Biesiekierz an attractive place to live and visit.
