wikipedia
Bishop Jordan Bridge in Poznań, also known as the Cybiński or Śródecki Bridge, is a modern pedestrian and bicycle footbridge spanning the Cybina River, connecting the right-bank district of Śródka with Ostrów Tumski. Located between the Mieszko I Bridge and the railway bridge on the Poznań–Warsaw line, it holds significant historical importance, as a river crossing has existed here since the early Middle Ages, with archaeological findings revealing remnants of a 10th-century bridge. Over the centuries, various structures stood at this site, including a wooden bridge from the 19th century and a steel bridge built in the early 20th century, which was destroyed during World War II. After a long period without a crossing, the city authorities decided to rebuild the bridge in the early 2000s. The new structure, designed using a span from the dismantled Roch Bridge, was opened on December 7, 2007, at a cost of nearly 10 million PLN. The bridge features a 70-meter steel span, reinforced concrete abutments, and a cobbled deck. It has become a popular spot for newlyweds and tourists, with hundreds of love locks attached to its railings. It has also been a site of risky youth activities, despite being designed as a functional footbridge offering scenic views of the surroundings. The bridge serves as the setting for the climax of Zbigniew Wojtyś's novel *Pierścień Bolesława* (Bolesław's Ring), underscoring its place in Poznań's literature and culture.
