wikipedia
Bobrek Castle, built in the 14th century, probably by King Casimir III the Great, was a small-sized, rectangular structure with a single tower, surrounded by a deep moat. It was erected on the site of an earlier stronghold that had burned down in the 13th century. The castle’s documented history began with damage sustained in 1532, but it was quickly rebuilt and expanded with new elements in the 15th century. In 1589, the castle was destroyed by fire, and a year later it underwent comprehensive reconstruction. By 1595, it was owned by Mikołaj Ligęza, the castellan of Wiślica, and administratively belonged to the Silesian County of the Kraków Voivodeship. The castle was ultimately demolished in 1656, and its ruins survived until the 17th century, when they were finally dismantled. A palace was later built on the site, which was restored after World War II. Due to its eventful history, Bobrek Castle combines architectural, cultural, and historical aspects, making it a fascinating element of the heritage of the Oświęcim region.
