Bogdaniec is a municipality in the Lubusz Voivodeship, located in the Gorzów County, with its seat in the town of Bogdaniec, situated 5 km west of Gorzów Wielkopolski. The municipality covers an area of 112.12 km², of which 68% is agricultural land and 21% is forest land. Settlement in the region dates back to the Middle Ages, when the first villages were established, such as Jenin, Łupowo, Racław, and Stanowice. In the 19th century, the village of Chwałowice was founded on the initiative of local authorities, and further villages developed in the 18th and 19th centuries. The municipality boasts a rich architectural heritage, including historic churches such as the Neo-Gothic church in Racław and the Classicist church in Jenin. In Łupowo, there is a Neo-Baroque church from 1909, while in Stanowice, a 15th-century church with a Baroque chapel has been preserved. Bogdaniec is also home to a rural architecture museum located in a historic mill from 1826, featuring reconstructions of the miller's living quarters and exhibits related to milling. The municipality cultivates various cultural traditions by organizing events such as the Bogdaniec Artistic Asylum, the Roasted Potato Festival, and mini-speedway competitions in Stanowice. The area is home to numerous nature reserves protecting unique ecosystems, such as the Bogdanieckie Cisy Reserve with valuable old-growth forests. The municipality offers a variety of tourist routes, including nature trails and cycling paths that wind through the picturesque landscapes of the area, rich in natural and socio-cultural attractions. It is a region where it is worth exploring both natural treasures and the histories of local communities. Bogdaniec engages in international cooperation with the German municipality of Petershagen/Eggersdorf, fostering cultural exchange and collaboration in various fields.
