The municipality of Bolesławiec, located in the Łódź Voivodeship, Wieruszów County, boasts a rich history and a diverse demographic and spatial structure. From 1975 to 1998, the municipality was part of the Kalisz Voivodeship. Its administrative seat is the town of Bolesławiec, which plays a key role in local culture, hosting the Municipal Cultural Center and the Sports and Recreation Center situated by the reservoir with extensive sports facilities. The total area of the municipality is 6,458 hectares, predominantly consisting of agricultural land and forests. It is worth noting that all villages in the municipality are connected to the water supply system, which is a significant infrastructural asset. Historically, Bolesławiec was part of Wieluń County, and in the past, the municipality incorporated an area that had lost its town rights. There was also the municipality of Chotynin, which had an unusual shape, separated by the municipality of Bolesławiec. After the war, the municipality retained its administrative affiliation but was abolished and briefly merged with other areas, highlighting its complex history. With an area of 64.58 km², it occupies 11.21% of the county's territory. In the 1920s, the population was 1,854, and according to data from June 2004, it was home to 4,147 people. The municipality includes villages such as Chotynin, Kamionka, and Mieleszyn, as well as many smaller settlements. Neighboring municipalities include Byczyna and Wieruszów.
