Wieruszów County, located in the southwestern part of the Łódź Voivodeship, was re-established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform. Its seat is the town of Wieruszów, and according to data from the end of 2019, the county had a population of 42,105. The county is situated near important transport routes, such as the S8 expressway, and has a well-developed road and rail infrastructure, which enhances its accessibility and development. The county has 291 km of county roads, as well as water supply and sewage networks measuring 473.8 km and 49.9 km, respectively. The county covers an area of 577.21 km², which constitutes 3.17% of the voivodeship's area. Wieruszów County comprises the urban-rural municipalities of Bolesławiec, Lututów, and Wieruszów, as well as the rural municipalities of Czastary, Galewice, Łubnice, and Sokolniki. The county has a rich history; it already existed between 1816 and 1870, and its current administrative structure was shaped by several reforms, including the division into gromadas (village clusters) and the restoration of municipalities in the 1970s. An important event in the county's history was the merger of the town and municipality of Wieruszów into a single unit in 1992, as well as the controversial incorporation of the Lututów municipality into the county after the 1999 reform, which faced opposition from the local community. The county boasts numerous cultural attractions, including local traditions and events cherished by its residents. The region's architecture, though not as renowned as in larger cities, hides many interesting buildings that reflect local history and culture. Among the notable features is the continuous expansion of infrastructure, which consistently supports the development of the local community and industry.
