Borek Stary

Borek Stary is a village located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within the Dynowskie Foothills, characterized by picturesque hills that shape the local landscape. The village is known for its charming architecture, including the Church of St. Peter and Paul, whose history dates back to the 15th century, and a 17th-century Dominican monastery. In Borek Stary, one can still encounter 19th-century homesteads in remote hamlets and historic roadside shrines. Historically, the village boasts a rich heritage stretching back to the Middle Ages, with records of a church already existing here in 1418. Over the centuries, Borek was subjected to invasions by Tatars and Swedes, as well as military conflicts, and its residents were involved in resistance activities during World War II, including within the structures of the Home Army (AK). The local culture has its roots in the activities of organizations such as the People's Party and the Rural Youth Association "Wici." During the interwar period, Władysław Samek, a playwright who contributed to the development of local culture, was active here. Today, Borek Stary has various commercial establishments and a modern health center, and the village is developing while preserving its historical and architectural heritage. An interesting fact is that the village maintains a well-preserved structure of farmsteads, with a predominance of small agricultural holdings. Thus, Borek Stary is a place that combines rich history with modern daily life, preserving its local character and cultural heritage.
