Bridge in Stobnica

The bridge in Stobnica is a steel structure with a length of 245 meters, featuring a riveted truss and seven spans, suspended 18.2 meters above the Warta River. Constructed between 1909 and 1910 for the Wronki–Oborniki railway line, the bridge stands out due to its unique structural system designed by Heinrich Gerber. Its history is rich—during World War II, it was repeatedly targeted for destruction but ultimately survived and remained in use until 2000, when railway traffic was discontinued. As developments around the bridge unfolded, including proposed revitalization for pedestrian and cycling use, local organizations initiated efforts to restore it. The bridge is listed in the provincial heritage register and was officially added to the monument registry in 2020. It is worth noting that in 2020, there were considerations to use the Stobnica bridge for filming, though these plans ultimately did not materialize. Thanks to its historical and architectural significance, the Stobnicy bridge is a vital cultural landmark in the region, and its future depends on revitalization efforts.
