Oborniki is an urban-rural commune in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within Oborniki County, combining rich history with diverse natural resources. The town of Oborniki, which serves as the commune’s seat, was incorporated into the commune in 1954 when its territory was divided into two separate areas: Oborniki-Północ (North) and Oborniki-Południe (South). The commune covers an area of 340.16 km², of which 52% is agricultural land and 38% is forest land, highlighting its agricultural and forest-oriented character. According to demographic data, the commune had 31,332 inhabitants in 2004, and by 2017 this number had increased to 34,082. The area also features the private Oborniki-Słonawy airstrip, which is an interesting attraction for aviation enthusiasts.
