Brody

The Brody Commune, located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship within the Starachowice County, is a picturesque area with its seat in the town of Brody. In 2024, the commune's mayor, Ernest Kumek, undertook initiatives aimed at the development of the local community. Historically, the commune operated within the boundaries of the Kielce Voivodeship until 1998, which influenced its administrative development. The commune boasts numerous interesting tourist attractions, including three nature reserves and many natural monuments, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers. The central point of the commune is the Brody Reservoir, which offers a variety of recreational opportunities. In 2019, a Tourist Center was established by the reservoir, featuring a rope park, playgrounds, and sports facilities, attracting both tourists and residents. The commune's land structure, covering an area of 161.3 km², is characterized by a dominance of forested areas, which account for 69% of the total area. Demographically, at the end of 2019, the commune had a population of 10,743, reflecting its demographic stability. In terms of local politics, the commune experienced changes when Andrzej Śliwa lost his position as mayor in 2008 due to a decision by the Supreme Administrative Court, leading to early elections. The Brody Commune consists of numerous village administrations (sołectws), including Adamów, Dziurów, and Kuczów, as well as smaller localities. It is also worth noting that it borders communes such as Iłża, Kunów, and Mirzec, which fosters cooperation and regional development. With its rich natural and architectural heritage, the Brody Commune is becoming an increasingly attractive place for both residents and tourists.
