The history of Brzostek is linked to the development of trade in the Middle Ages, including along the Polish-Hungarian route. In 1854, a county (powiat) with its seat in Brzostek was established. The municipality boasts a rich cultural heritage, with numerous monuments, including the historic urban layout of the town, the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, and war cemeteries. Nature protection is provided by areas such as the Czarnorzecko-Strzyżowski Landscape Park and various nature reserves.
