wikipedia
Chabielice is a village in Poland, located in the Łódź Voivodeship, within Bełchatów County. Known since the Mesolithic era, it has been the site of numerous archaeological discoveries, including Bronze Age settlements and remnants of various cultures, such as the Lusatian and Przeworsk cultures. The first written records of the village date back to 1393, when it was mentioned as part of the Rząśnia parish. The architecture of Chabielice features both historical structures, like the 18th-century wooden Church of St. Michael the Archangel, which burned down during World War II, and modern facilities, such as the new primary school and sports hall. Culturally, the village is known for its numerous events related to Polish history, particularly during national uprisings, including the January Uprising. Chabielice was also the site of a peasant revolt in 1861 and, after World War II, served as a base for the activities of the "cursed soldiers." Interestingly, lignite deposits were discovered in the region, and after the mine opened in 2002, the mayor of Chabielice became a symbol of the area's transformation from agricultural to industrial. Today, the village is developing rapidly, offering modern infrastructure, including housing estates of single-family homes, and promoting sports activities through the local football club, Błękitni Chabielice.
