Charsznica is a rural municipality located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, within Miechów County, with its administrative seat in Miechów-Charsznica. Until 1954, it operated as the gmina of Chodów, and between 1975 and 1998, it belonged to the Kielce Voivodeship. In 2004, the municipality had a population of 7,795. The area of the municipality spans 78.28 km², of which 87% is agricultural land and 6% is forested. The municipality covers 11.57% of the area of Miechów County. It consists of 17 villages, including Charsznica, Chodów, and Uniejów, which are diverse in terms of architecture and culture. The municipality borders other gminas such as Gołcza, Kozłów, and Miechów, fostering cultural and historical exchange, as the region has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. In terms of architecture, it is worth noting the local buildings, which often reflect traditional rural styles. Due to its location, Charsznica also boasts interesting natural features, which create opportunities for the development of rural and agritourism.
