The municipality of Chojna, located in the central part of the Gryfino County, is an urban-rural municipality with its seat in the town of Chojna. It is characterized by a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, when Chojna was one of the wealthiest towns in the New March region. The municipality boasts numerous Gothic architectural monuments, such as the town hall, St. Mary's Church, the former Augustinian monastery complex, and the town fortifications. The rural landscape preserves medieval village layouts and many early Gothic and Gothic granite churches. In 2016, the municipality invested in infrastructure development, spending PLN 48.2 million. It comprises numerous village administrative units (sołectwa), and in 2011, its residents accounted for 16.9% of the county's population. The municipality is situated on the Myślibórz Lake District and borders the Cedynia Landscape Park, which attracts tourists. There are hiking trails and the Rurzyca River, ideal for kayaking enthusiasts. Chojna also has an interesting transportation history; it gained a railway connection in 1876. The municipality is also home to one of the thickest trees in Poland – the Giant Plane Tree (Platan Olbrzym). In terms of education, it provides access to various institutions, including primary schools, a vocational school complex, and a general secondary school. Efforts are also underway in the region to establish cultural parks, highlighting the importance of Chojna's cultural heritage.
