wikipedia
Narost is a picturesque village located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the Gryfino County, inhabited by about 300 people. The first mention of Narost dates back to 1248, when the village was part of the estates of the Lehnin monastery. Over the centuries, Narost passed through the hands of many owners, including noble families such as von Schöning, von Mühlheim, and Berndt von Gerlach, who in the 19th century built a magnificent palace in a park designed by Peter Joseph Lenné, a renowned landscape architect. Unfortunately, the palace was destroyed during World War II, and only ruins remain to this day. The village is also home to a historic church dedicated to the Mother of the Queen of Poland, dating back to the 13th century, which underwent a Baroque reconstruction in the 18th century and a Neo-Gothic one in the 19th century. The church, with its preserved medieval portals and Baroque epitaphs, is now a subsidiary of the parish in Brwice. Narost is surrounded by beautiful post-glacial lakes, with Lake Narost and Lake Białęgi nearby, attracting tourists. An interesting fact is the legend of a Templar who, after healing his wounds, founded a chapel and became a healer for the local population. Local residents still pilgrimage to the site associated with him, believing in its magical properties. Additionally, the village has preserved a traditional cultural landscape with a classic layout, combining historic buildings, roads lined with linden and chestnut trees, making it a valuable destination for history and nature enthusiasts. The 19th-century Evangelical cemetery and the remains of the former manor farm bear witness to its rich history. Despite the forces of nature and history, Narost remains a place that captivates with its charm and ancient cultural heritage.
