wikipedia
The Church of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Mąkoszyn is a Roman Catholic parish church built between 1914 and 1919 through the efforts of Father Wincenty Wrzaliński, based on a design by architect Zdzisław Mączyński. The consecration took place on May 9, 1919. The church's architecture is characterized by a varied structure featuring buttresses and a clear delineation of individual parts of the building. At ground level, there is an arcaded undercroft, while above the nave stands a polygonal turret with a lantern serving as a bell tower. An impressive tower, located on the western side, is crowned with an onion-shaped helm roof, giving the church its distinctive appearance. The interior of the church is three-aisled and covered with a false cross vault, while the presbytery is adorned with frescoes from 1951 and a granite floor installed in 1978. In 1984, the roof was replaced with copper sheeting. The church is currently in good technical condition. Culturally, the church's furnishings include elements from the early 20th century, such as a neo-Baroque altar with sculptures of saints and angels, a pulpit decorated with reliefs of the four evangelists, a granite baptismal font, two crucifixes, and an organ from 1920. An interesting fact is that the church houses a plaque commemorating its builder, Father Wincenty Wrzaliński, who was murdered in Dachau, adding a profound historical dimension to this site. Thus, the Church of Our Lady of Częstochowa is not only a place of worship but also an important element of local history and culture, serving as both an architectural testament and a memorial to the tragic fate of its builder.
