wikipedia
The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Tarnówek is a neo-Gothic Catholic temple, located in the Połajewo municipality, belonging to the parish in Boruszyn. Built between 1907 and 1909, the structure originally served as an Evangelical church and was consecrated on December 21, 1909. During the Second Polish Republic, it was part of a parish belonging to the Oborniki-Chodzież superintendentcy of the United Evangelical Church. The church is situated on the northeastern edge of the village, forming a compact architectural complex with the former parsonage. Its design was modeled after the church in Jabłonowo Pomorskie, with both structures stylistically referencing 14th-century churches of the Dobrzyń Land, in accordance with Prussian architectural guidelines. During the Nazi occupation, the temple was closed, and after the war, it was handed over to the Boruszyn parish. The church is built of burnt brick and features a roof covered with ceramic tiles. Its architecture is decorated with narrow plastered blind niches and pinnacles on the western gable and the porch. The interior of the church contains interesting furnishings, such as an organ with three pipe fields topped with crenellations and a neo-Romanesque chandelier. The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is an important element of the region's cultural heritage, illustrating historical changes and the cultural diversity that has taken place in Poland over the years.
