wikipedia
The Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul in Wisła is an Evangelical-Augsburg house of prayer, whose history dates back to the years 1833–1838, when it was built during the pastorate of Michał Kupferschmid on the site of a previous wooden structure. It was designed by Edward Koerber in the classicist style as a three-nave building, initially without a tower or bells, in accordance with the Patent of Toleration of 1781. The consecration took place on June 29, 1838, and the tower with bells was added after the issuance of the Protestant Patent in 1861, which balanced the rights of Protestants with those of Catholics. In the years 1862–1863, the church was expanded with a front block featuring a 45-meter tower. The interior of the church features two levels of galleries, typical of Protestant temples, and its white décor is highlighted by an altar with a stained-glass window depicting the patron saints, created in 1932 by the Kraków-based "S.G. Żeleński" Stained Glass Workshop based on a design by Adam Ciompa. Additionally, inside, visitors can view an exhibition of old Evangelical prints and an organ by the firm Schlag & Söhne, brought from a church in Mirsk. The Evangelical cemetery "Na Groniczku" opposite the church holds the graves of many distinguished citizens of Wisła, including Bogumił Hoff. Across from the building are the historic parsonage from the years 1805–1807 and the former Evangelical school from 1824. Located at 1 Maja Street 49, the church is a significant element of the region's culture and architecture, serving not only as a place of prayer but also as a witness to the history of the local community.
