wikipedia
Wisła is a picturesque town located in the Silesian Beskids, within the Silesian Voivodeship. Known as an important sports and tourist center, it is also the source of Poland's largest river, the Vistula. The town has a rich history dating back to the 16th century, when lumberjacks and shepherds first settled here. Over the years, Wisła transformed from a small village into a popular resort. In the 19th century, a significant boost to the town's development came from tourists' interest in the beauty of the Beskid landscape. During this period, numerous villas and bathing establishments were built, and Wisła became known as a health resort. An important event in the town's history was the granting of city rights in 1962. Architecturally, notable landmarks include a tavern from 1794, the Beskid Museum, and an Evangelical church from 1838. Wisła also boasts an old Evangelical school and a 19th-century parsonage. Modern Wisła attracts tourists not only with its natural beauty but also with sports attractions such as ski jumps. In winter, the ski resort draws winter sports enthusiasts, while in summer, the tourist offerings include kilometers of hiking and cycling trails. An interesting feature is the grilling machines in the city park, which encourage spending time outdoors. Wisła actively promotes its assets through the "Bear Trail," introducing bear figures placed in various locations around the town. The town has also gained status as a Lutheran center, where the Evangelical community constitutes the majority. In 1991, Wisła established international cooperation with several cities, highlighting its openness to culture and tourism. Today, it is a place that combines stunning landscapes, rich history, cultural diversity, and modern attractions, making Wisła one of the most interesting points on Poland's tourist map.
