wikipedia
The Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Hanna is a historic religious building whose history dates back to 1726, when the first written mention of an existing temple appeared. Between 1739 and 1742, on the initiative of Hieronim Florian Radziwiłł, a Uniate church was built, which was completed in 1750. In 1791, polychrome paintings were realized, and a Basilian chapel commemorating holy missions was also built. In the 19th century, especially after the abolition of the Uniate Diocese of Chełm by the tsarist authorities in 1875, the church changed its denomination to Orthodox. After Poland regained independence in 1918, the temple was taken over by the Roman Catholic Church, and in 1924 the first Roman Catholic parish in Hanna was established. The church is characterized by Baroque interior decor and 17th-century polychrome paintings on canvas. Within the complex, there is also a wooden bell tower from 1739 and an old cemetery with the Chapel of St. Anne from 1880. The history of this temple reflects the religious, social, and cultural changes in the region, as well as the architectural evolution in the context of the dominant styles of the period. The church serves not only religious functions but is also an important cultural and historical site in the local community.
