wikipedia
The Parish Church of the Holy Cross and St. Nicholas in Biezdrowo, probably established in the 12th century, has a rich history. Initially, it was a wooden structure, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style between 1436 and 1442. It acquired its current form after numerous transformations, with the last major renovation taking place from 1924 to 1926. The church features a single-nave structure, a late Gothic tower, and two chapels from the late 19th century, which give it the shape of a cross. The interior is adorned with paintings from 1949 depicting significant religious events, as well as valuable sacred art, including a Renaissance crucifix and an image of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, brought from Rome. Additionally, the church houses historic chalices, monstrances, and tombstones, making it a place of great cultural and historical value. Surrounding the church is a complex of parish buildings, a church cemetery, and a defensive wall, which also hold their place in the history of the locality. Interesting legends associated with the church include one about a treasure that financed its construction and the story of the cross from Pierwoszewo, which became a symbol of local resistance against a German village mayor during World War II. The history of the parish shows how spirituality and local traditions are deeply rooted in the Biezdrowo community.
