The Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Blessed Priest Stefan Wincenty Frelichowski is a Roman Catholic parish church located in Jastrzębie, within the Diocese of Toruń. Its history dates back to 1618, when a wooden church dedicated to St. Leonard stood on the site. In 1682, thanks to the efforts of Father Grzegorz Mioduski, another wooden church was built, which was consecrated in 1700. The current church, also wooden, was constructed in 1821 in an oriented style. Its architecture features a log structure and a tented roof covered with copper. Inside the church, there are polychrome ceilings and stained-glass windows from 1964 depicting important biblical motifs. The furnishings include Baroque altars, with the main altar featuring a 19th-century painting of the Visitation, along with three wooden side altars. The church also houses a 19th-century positive organ. Over the years, the church has undergone numerous repairs and renovations, with significant conservation work in recent years restoring its former splendor. Next to the church stands a wooden bell tower with a late Gothic bell and an unforgettable *karawaka* from 1946, restored as a memorial to the cholera epidemic. The church’s surroundings have a rich history, and the disused church cemetery contains historic tombstones from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It is worth noting the parish records dating back to the 19th century, as well as the extensive collection of documents related to baptisms, marriages, and funerals. The church is listed in the register of historical monuments, highlighting its cultural and historical significance.
