wikipedia
Glinianka is a village in the Masovian Voivodeship, located in the Otwock County, on the Świder River. In the 16th century, it was granted town rights under the name Wawrzyńczew, in honor of Wawrzyniec Dobrzyniecki, who significantly influenced the development of the settlement by building a manor and a church. Glinianka is known for its rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, when it was an important point on a trade route. The village was the cradle of the Dobrzyniecki family, who had an influence on the politics of Mazovia. In the 16th century, Wawrzyńczew developed slowly, mainly due to agriculture and the use of forest resources. A fire in 1577 and the destruction during the Swedish Deluge significantly contributed to its decline, and in 1820 the town lost its municipal rights, reverting to its historical name Glinianka. Architecturally, it stands out with its wooden church of St. Lawrence, built in 1763, and the former church of the Holy Spirit, of which only ruins remain. Glinianka is also home to the Wincenty Witos Primary School, which has its roots in parish education from the 16th century. In 2005, public transport lines connecting the village with Warsaw were introduced. The local church was used as a filming location for popular TV series, highlighting the cultural significance of the village. The area of the village comprises two administrative units (sołectwa), with a total of over 980 inhabitants. The history of Glinianka includes numerous episodes related to the struggle against invaders, including activities during the November and January Uprisings. Interestingly, its surroundings were the site of important battles during the Napoleonic Wars and World War II, when residents were involved in the resistance movement, and the village was affected by tragic events. Modern-day Glinianka, with its beautiful forests and lush nature, is a charming part of Mazovia with rich cultural and natural heritage.
