The Contemporary Art Gallery "Elektrownia" is a municipal gallery in Czeladź, housed in the historic building of the former power plant of the Saturn Mine, which has been part of the Silesian Voivodeship Industrial Monuments Trail since 2010. Designed by architect Józef Pius Dziekoński and built between 1902 and 1908, the structure is a brick, rectangular building with a distinctive tower styled in the Gothic manner and a richly decorated facade. The adaptation of the space for the gallery began in 2012, and the conversion works lasted until 2013, supported by EU funds. In its new role, the building not only gained exhibition spaces on the first floor and in the basement but also preserved the original machinery and equipment of the power plant, including the large 1903 generator "Wanda" and other technical installations, creating a unique atmosphere. The gallery, established on initiative in 2005, focuses on exhibition activities and had organized over 30 exhibitions by 2011. In addition to exhibitions, the institution hosts artistic workshops and art-themed events, including participation in the Industiada festival, further enhancing its role as a cultural and educational hub in the region. The "Elektrownia" Gallery not only promotes contemporary art but also documents and nurtures local industrial heritage, creating a fascinating blend of the past and the present.
