wikipedia
The Church of the Body of God in Jankowice Rybnickie is a wooden parish church built around 1670 as a replacement for a chapel destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. The church was founded by Count Ferdynand Leopold von Oppersdorff. Its architecture is characteristic of wooden structures in the region, featuring an oriented Greek cross plan and a gable roof covered with wood shingles. Inside, there are three pseudo-baroque altars: the main altar depicting the Last Supper, and the side altars dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Although the church lacks a bell tower, a small turret with a bell is situated on the roof. Notable are the early 18th-century organ pipes, originally mechanical and later converted to pneumatic, decorated with woodcarvings and distinctive golden ornaments. The church has undergone numerous renovations, including a major overhaul between 1973 and 1979, and an interior modernization in 1869, when two paintings related to the local legend of Father Walenty were added. In 2002, the church and the nearby sanctuary were designated as the Sanctuary of the Blessed Sacrament. The church is also listed on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesian Voivodeship, highlighting its cultural and historical significance in the region.
