wikipedia
Rybnik County, established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform, is located in southwestern Poland, within the Silesian Voivodeship, in the historical region of Upper Silesia. The county consists of five municipalities: urban-rural municipalities such as Czerwionka-Leszczyny, and rural municipalities: Gaszowice, Jejkowice, Lyski, and Świerklany. The county is surrounded by city counties, including Rybnik, Jastrzębie-Zdrój, and Żory, as well as other counties, making it a significant point on the regional map. Demographic data shows that in 2010, the population was 74,888, and by 2023, it had increased to 76,816, indicating stable development of the area. It is worth noting that the 2014 age pyramid of the residents illustrates a diverse demographic structure, which may influence local culture and society. The County Council, represented by KWW Wspólnota Śląska Ciosek – Razem dla Śląska, works for the local community, which has rich historical traditions related to industry and regional culture. In the interwar period and during the Polish People's Republic, the county had its administrators, from Oskar Krupa to Maksymilian Miłek, shaping its administrative history. Architecturally, the region is characterized by historic buildings associated with former industry, as well as modern investments that harmoniously blend into the local landscape. Rybnik County is also a venue for numerous cultural events that promote local traditions and integrate residents. Interestingly, although Rybnik County does not have the status of a city county, it plays a key role in the Upper Silesian Industrial Region, making it an important center in the area. It combines its rich cultural heritage with a modern approach to economic development, making it a dynamically growing region.
