wikipedia
Krzyżkowice, located in the Opole Voivodeship, within the Lubrza municipality, is a village with a rich history, featuring numerous references to the past of Upper Silesia. The name of the locality, originally known as Kröschendorf, appeared in documents as early as 1321. However, its roots go back even further, as suggested by the personal name Krzyżek. The village had an agricultural character and a linear street layout. In the 14th century, it was under the administration of noble families, and from 1604, it was in the hands of the Prudnik City Council. The village witnessed many historical events, including a death march in 1945, and after World War II, it came under Polish administration. Krzyżkowice boasts historical monuments, such as the Chapel of St. Florian from 1933 and a preserved rural layout dating back to the mid-13th century. Local transport is provided by the regional PKS bus service, and Krzyżkowice was once the site of a border crossing with the Czech Republic. Culturally, the residents are associated with the Parish of St. Catherine, and the surrounding area features cycling trails. The entire region is characterized by a moderate climate and a picturesque location at the foothills of the Opawskie Mountains, making it an attractive place both for living and tourism. An interesting fact is that the village was home to notable figures over the years, including florist Alois Werner and writer Ewa Barańska, highlighting its cultural significance.
