The Lubrza Commune is a rural administrative unit located in the Opole Voivodeship, within the Prudnik County, with its seat in the town of Lubrza. It was established after World War II in December 1945 as part of the Recovered Territories. Over the following years, the commune underwent various administrative changes and was permanently reinstated on January 1, 1973. The commune comprises 11 villages, including Dytmarów, Krzyżkowice, Laskowice, and Prężynka with Dobroszewice. The commune covers an area of 83.15 km², of which 81% is agricultural land and 10% is forested. In 2004, the commune had a population of 4,531, but according to 2021 data, the number decreased to 4,185. The ethnic structure shows that in 2002, 314 people declared a non-Polish nationality, while in 2021, this number was 148 residents, with the dominant non-Polish nationality being German. Architecturally, the commune is characterized by historic rural buildings, including traditional houses and farm buildings, reflecting the region's former architectural styles. Culturally, Lubrza collaborates with partner communes in the Czech Republic, fostering the exchange of traditions and cultural events. The safety of residents is ensured by the Border Guard, as the commune is located in the border zone with the Czech Republic. It is also worth noting that this region has a rich history, attracting tourists and researchers interested in the location of Opole Silesia and its folklore. Interestingly, despite the decline in population, the commune maintains its cultural traditions, and local communities engage in various initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in the region and preserving its unique values.
