Czastary is a rural municipality located in the Łódź Voivodeship, within Wieruszów County, with its administrative seat in the village of Czastary, which forms the northern part of the municipality. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Kalisz Voivodeship. The area is characterized by its agricultural profile, with arable land accounting for 72% of its total area of 62.67 km². Situated mainly within the Wieluńska Upland, the municipality has limited industrial potential, and the average size of a farm is 5.8 hectares. Demographic data shows that the population was 4,004 in 2011 and 3,975 in 2019. A notable site in the municipality is the Natural History Museum in Czastary, which features exhibits such as starfish, shells, stones, crustaceans, and coins, reflecting local efforts to promote natural and cultural education. The municipality also boasts a well-developed water supply infrastructure, which is an important asset for its residents. Its social structure includes village administrative units such as Czastary, Jaworek, Józefów, and Kąty Walichnowskie, as well as smaller settlements without such status. It borders the municipalities of Biała, Bolesławiec, Łubnice, Sokolniki, and Wieruszów, facilitating integration and cooperation among local communities.
