wikipedia
Dzieło D-8 is one of the intermediate forts of the Modlin Fortress, constructed between 1912 and 1915 in the town of Czarnowo. Its primary purpose was to secure the Narew River valley and the road leading to Serock. The fort was designed as an artillery traditor, intended for three cannons, with its defense enhanced by additional elements such as a caponier and a counterscarp gallery. The main rampart of the fort included infantry positions and concrete observation shelters, although the planned armored emplacements were never installed. The structure has been preserved in good condition, and its roof features an experimental combat dome for a heavy machine gun, installed during the interwar period. Today, it occupies an area of allotment gardens, creating an intriguing cultural context for this military object. Dzieło D-8 is not only an example of fortification architecture but also a testament to Poland's military history, showcasing the development of defensive techniques in the early 20th century. Its proximity to the Narew River highlights the strategic importance of the region and the role of forts in territorial defense.
