wikipedia
The DAG Alfred Nobel Combine in Krzystkowice, located in the forests near Nowogród Bobrzański, is a remnant of a German ammunition factory whose roots likely date back to 1939, when it was established as a subsidiary of the IG Farben conglomerate. The factory complex, covering an area of approximately 35 km², was once heavily guarded and included residential blocks, casinos, and infrastructure such as a railway network with loading ramps and its own fire brigade. Historically, the factory was linked to the Gross Rosen concentration camp, whose prisoners constituted a significant part of the workforce. After the war, much of the equipment was dismantled and evacuated by the Russians, leaving behind only ruins of production halls, concrete structures, enormous earth-covered silos, and traces of former roads and railway lines. The area, which is no longer guarded, has now become a local tourist attraction, drawing those interested in history and industrial architecture. The remains of office buildings, ruins of production halls, and a warehouse surrounded by an earthen embankment are not only fascinating objects to explore but also witnesses to the region's history. Interestingly, despite the many years that have passed since the end of the war, this area still reflects the times of World War II, creating a unique cultural and historical context that can be discovered by visitors.
