Daszyna is a rural commune in the Łódź Voivodeship, belonging to Łęczyca County, with its seat located in a village of the same name. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune was administratively part of the Płock Voivodeship. According to 2007 data, the commune covers an area of 80.91 km², of which 92% is agricultural land and only 2% is forested. The commune is a member of the Association of Municipalities of the Kutno Region and, as of December 31, 2007, had a population of 4,130. A demographic analysis conducted in 2014 confirmed the stability of the population. The commune consists of a number of village districts (sołectwa), such as Daszyna, Drzykozy, Gąsiorów, Jabłonna, and many others, as well as smaller localities including Goszczynno and Walew. The commune is served by over a dozen Volunteer Fire Departments, reflecting a high level of community organization and resident involvement in the protection of people and property. Religion plays a significant role in the community life, with the Roman Catholic Church being the dominant denomination, having one parish in Mazew. The commune is also home to communities associated with the Old Catholic Mariavite Church and other parishes. Neighboring communes include Chodów, Grabów, Krośniewice, Kutno, Łęczyca, and Witonia. An interesting fact is that in the 2009 European elections, the commune recorded an exceptionally high level of support for Samoobrona RP (Self-Defense of the Republic of Poland), with 41.39% of the votes, which was a rare result on a national scale.
