wikipedia
Dobromierz is a village in Poland, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the administrative district of Nowa Wieś Wielka, part of Bydgoszcz County. The village lies on the edge of the Bydgoszcz Forest, within the Toruń-Eberswalde Ice Marginal Valley, which contributes to its natural charm and soil conditions. Dobromierz features forested areas interspersed with sandy-clay habitats, creating a unique ecological landscape. The locality includes both Upper and Lower Dobromierz, and the Freedom Trail runs through the village, attracting tourists. Architecturally, it is distinguished by historic landmarks such as an old school and houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as disused Evangelical cemeteries. Historically, Dobromierz has a rich past, connected with Ryczywieść, which was mentioned as early as the 16th century. In the 18th century, the settlement came into the possession of the mayor of Bydgoszcz, Maurycy Brühl, which led to its name being changed to Brühlsdorf, a name used until 1920. After wars and administrative changes, the village became part of Poland, and its original name, Dobromierz, was restored. The history of the village is also marked by tragic events from the Second World War, making it a place of remembrance for the fallen. In recent years, Dobromierz has been developing while still retaining its rural character, serving as a place where tradition intertwines with modernity. Interestingly, archaeological sites from the Stone Age have been discovered in the area, further highlighting Dobromierz's significance in the context of regional history.
