wikipedia
Drawsko Pomorskie, formerly known as Dramburg, is a town located in northwestern Poland, in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, on the Drawa River. The town, which is the seat of Drawsko County and the urban-rural municipality, has a population of approximately 11,000. Drawsko is characterized by its numerous housing estates, such as Jankowo and Osiedle Łobeskie, and its proximity to the Drawsko Training Area, one of the largest in Europe. The historical roots of Drawsko date back to the 7th century, and its location favored the development of trade on the route from Greater Poland to the Baltic Sea. In 1297, the town was granted municipal rights. Among its architectural landmarks are the Church of the Resurrection with Gothic elements and the remains of 14th-century defensive walls. The 18th-century town hall and the early 20th-century county office also attract attention. Drawsko witnessed numerous historical events, including a battle in March 1945 during World War II, when the town was captured by Polish and Soviet forces. Despite the destruction, the town continues its history and development, attracting new residents and tourists. Drawsko hosts various cultural events, such as the "My Garden" Fair and the Bóbr Rally. The town also offers a well-developed network of educational institutions. An interesting fact is the presence of a Jewish cemetery and the activity of various religious communities, including Roman Catholic and Evangelical parishes. Drawsko Pomorskie maintains international partnerships, including with the German towns of Bad Bramstedt and Strasburg.
