Drezdenko Deanery

The Drezdenko Deanery, one of the 30 deaneries of the Zielona Góra-Gorzów Diocese within the Szczecin-Kamień Metropolitan Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church, is characterized by its rich history and diversity of parishes and sacred sites. The deanery is headed by Dean Fr. Zdzisław Palus CRL, supported by Vice-Dean Fr. Tadeusz Wołoszyn and the spiritual father Fr. Stanisław Nalbach CRL. Particularly noteworthy is the work of the deanery’s youth and vocations pastor, Fr. Tomasz Szymaszka CRL, who has been serving in this role since September 2023. The deanery comprises numerous parishes, the largest of which is the Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Drezdenko. Architecturally, both the main churches and the numerous chapels are of great interest, serving as places of worship and gathering for local communities. Examples include the chapel in the municipal hospital and monastic chapels, which reflect the spiritual commitment of various religious orders. A notable feature is the diverse architecture of these buildings, representing different historical periods and construction styles, making them sites of significant cultural value. The deanery also includes numerous subsidiary churches, such as those in Chełsta, Niegosław, and Rąpin, which cater to the spiritual needs of residents in smaller towns. These parishes often organize cultural events, such as Nativity plays, festivals, and pilgrimages, which play a vital role in fostering community integration and preserving traditions. Historically, many of these sites have roots dating back to the Middle Ages, making them carriers of local identity and heritage. The Drezdenko Deanery is also distinguished by its stunning landscapes, which provide an ideal setting for pilgrimages and spiritual reflection. Pastoral activities in this region are closely intertwined with the daily lives of the faithful, creating a space for spiritual growth and the nurturing of family values. In recent years, there has been a growing emphasis on youth formation, as reflected in the initiatives undertaken by the deanery’s youth pastor. Thanks to its diversity and rich offerings, the Drezdenko Deanery allows both residents and visitors to experience the spiritual and cultural depths of the region. Each parish and church contributes something unique to the community, making this deanery a place of significant religious, historical, and social importance in Poland.
