wikipedia
The Fortress Gate in Drezdenko, located at 12 Wolności Square, is an important element of the city's historical and architectural heritage. Built in the second half of the 17th century, it is a remnant of the fortifications of the former Drezdenko fortress, replacing an earlier ravelin. The two-story structure underwent a major reconstruction in 1763, when the fortifications were dismantled and the gate was converted into a residential building. As part of these works, an attic floor with a mansard roof was added, and access to the upper part of the building was provided from the level of the rampart, which facilitated the lives of soldiers on guard duty, with social rooms located on this level. The architecture of the gate is decorated with pilasters and window frames, some of which may date back to the period of its construction, highlighting its historical value. Currently, the Museum of the Drawska and Notecka Forest is located near the gate, making this location an attractive point on the tourist map of the region. The Fortress Gate not only reflects the rich history of Drezdenko but also integrates into the local culture, attracting history and architecture enthusiasts.
