Drzewica is an urban-rural municipality located in the Łódź Voivodeship, within the Opoczno County, with its administrative seat in the town of Drzewica. The history of the municipality dates back to 1870, when it was known as the Radzice Commune. For many years, it was part of the Radom Voivodeship until the administrative reform of 1998. The municipality covers an area of 118.19 km², of which 60% is agricultural land and 33% is forested, making it an important area for agriculture and forestry in the region. Demographic data shows that in 2007, the municipality had a population of 11,076, which decreased to 10,424 by 2019. The municipality includes numerous villages, such as Brzustowiec, Dąbrówka, and Werówka, as well as the locality of Świerczyna, which does not have the status of a village. Drzewica borders municipalities such as Gielniów, Odrzywół, Opoczno, Poświętne, and Rusinów.
