wikipedia
The Wrocław Ethnographic Museum, operating since 1954, focuses on the folk art of Lower Silesia. Its origins date back to 1948, when the Ethnographic Department was established at the State Museum. In 1954, this department became a branch of the Silesian Museum, and its first permanent exhibition dedicated to Lower Silesian folk art was opened in 1955 at the Royal Palace. The museum boasts a rich collection built through donations and acquisitions from various regions, including Karpacz, Szklarska Poręba, and Opole Silesia. The exhibitions showcase not only the folk culture of Lower Silesia but also the traditions of settlers from the Eastern Borderlands. In 1999, the Wrocław City Museum took over the entire Royal Palace building, leading to the relocation of the Ethnographic Museum to the Summer Palace of the Wrocław Bishops at Traugutta Street in 2004. The first permanent exhibition there was opened in 2006. The museum also organizes temporary exhibitions featuring ethnographic collections from around the world, making it an important venue for cultural and educational gatherings.
