wikipedia
The Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Zabrze-Mikulczyce is a filial church of the Evangelical-Augsburg Parish in Zabrze, located on Brygadzistów Street in the Mikulczyce district of the Silesian Voivodeship. The history of the temple's construction dates back to 1930, when the first plans were drawn up, but due to a lack of funds, they were put on hold. Eventually, in 1937, the church project was completed in less than two months by the firm Christoph und Unmack from Niesky, known for constructing simple and functional buildings such as churches and barracks. The short construction time and low costs were key advantages of this technology. The church, which remains a place of worship for Lutherans to this day, was taken over by Catholics after World War II and then returned to the Evangelicals in 1952. Between 2001 and 2002, the building underwent a thorough renovation, which included replacing the roof and windows, reinforcing the foundations, and rebuilding the entrance stairs. The church in Mikulczyce is an important part of the region's culture and history, and its architecture exemplifies the simplicity and functionality characteristic of the era in which it was built. Interestingly, its rapid construction and changes in religious affiliation reflect the turbulent history of Silesia in the 20th century.
