The Fisherman's Bench in Kąty Rybackie is a monumental sculpture located near the local fishing port on the Vistula Lagoon. Unveiled in June 2006, it was created by artists Rafał Pacewicz and Stanisław Suski. A distinctive feature of the monument is the concrete figure of a fisherman, which stands over two meters tall and holds a fish in its hand, symbolizing the hard work and effort of local fishermen who have been operating in this area for generations. The monument has both architectural and artistic value, combining the form of sculpture with the local cultural context. Honoring the fishermen helps to revive the local tradition and culture associated with fishing, an important source of livelihood for the residents of Kąty Rybackie.
Interestingly, next to the bench monument, on August 4, 2006, a controversial monument was erected—a shovel stuck in the ground, symbolizing the necessity of digging through the Vistula Spit. This initiative, sponsored by the foundation of Senator Elżbieta Gelert, further highlights local issues and debates related to the region's infrastructure and ecology.
