The Frombork municipality, classified as urban-rural, is located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, within Braniewo County. Its administrative seat is the historic town of Frombork, renowned for its association with the life of Nicolaus Copernicus. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Elbląg Voivodeship. It covers an area of 125.82 km², featuring diverse physiographic characteristics that stretch from the Warmian Plain to the Old Prussian Coast and the Elbląg Upland. It borders the Vistula Lagoon, and its territory is traversed by the Bauda and Narusa rivers. In 2004, the municipality had a population of 3,793, which decreased to 3,555 by 2019. Land use in the area consists mainly of agricultural land (42%) and forests (20%). Frombork is also a notable destination for ecologists; the municipality includes Natura 2000 sites and ecological reserves such as "Skarpy." Nature protection efforts also extend to the Elbląg Upland Landscape Protected Area and the Bauda River Landscape Protected Area.
